Miriam De Dios WoodwardHello PolicyWorks Blog followers! My name is Miriam De Dios Woodward and I am honored to be the new CEO of PolicyWorks. I am excited to work with you and help credit unions as they navigate regulatory obstacles and embrace new opportunities.

I took on this new role in October after moving from my previous position as CEO of Coopera, PolicyWorks’ sister company, part of the Affiliates Management Company (AMC) family of companies. I loved my time with Coopera and also recognized a tremendous opportunity to lead PolicyWorks into its next phase of growth. This role is a new challenge that will allow me to step outside my comfort zone, be creative and find ways to innovate in an environment some consider “locked-down”.

But compliance doesn’t have to be stringent and reactive or interfere with your own creative thinking. The trick is finding out how the regulations can work with you – not against you. It’s no secret that new consumer demands and increasing competition from non-traditional players are going to change the regulatory environment. This in-turn, is going to create unprecedented areas of opportunity for credit unions.

For instance, PolicyWorks was recently a partner on a collaborative project with the Filene Research Institute, Coopera, and Inclusiv, in which we developed an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) Lending Guide. Credit unions and financial institutions in general have been uneasy about lending to foreign nationals who hold ITINs because of regulatory concern or no strong process. With this new guide, these individuals don’t have to be turned away, and credit unions can grow by being more inclusive in their lending practices.

This is an example of how I want PolicyWorks to be there with you – offering the creative solutions you seek in order to grow and address the changing needs of consumers. PolicyWorks is designed to help credit unions anticipate and address regulatory issues in a strategic way. Our team is awesome – and they provide strategy, guidance and advice to help you stay in compliance. Let us be of service so you can focus on what really matters – serving your members.

Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I look forward to our future opportunities and yours, as we all work together to find ways regulatory compliance can be a strategic and constructive tool, and not a roadblock.
