Coopera to Host Free Webinar for Credit Unions: Joining Forces for Inclusion

POSTED on August 24, 2020 IN Coopera

Webinar will provide credit unions with information about diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives

(Des Moines, Iowa – August 24, 2020) – The credit union philosophy of “people helping people” has been a pillar of the credit union movement. As the nation grows and diversifies, credit unions need to make sure that their membership is inclusive and reflects the diversity in the communities they serve.

Coopera works with credit unions to assist with strategic planning to advance DEI, membership growth and financial access to all initiatives. While the recent systemic racism conversation has made DEI a hot topic, Coopera and Inclusiv have been for decades dedicated to making sure the conversation about inequality continues within the credit union movement.

Inclusiv raises and channels investments, provides technical assistance and training to support and grow the reach and impact of community development credit unions. Inclusiv manages multiple high-impact initiatives such as Inclusiv Mortgage providing affordable home mortgage loans (including ITIN mortgages); Pathways to Financial Empowerment delivering outcomes driven financial coaching; Juntos Avanzamos supporting outreach and engagement of Latino consumers and Inclusiv Black Communities supporting credit unions serving predominantly Black communities.

To help credit unions grow member communities in an inclusive and equal space, Coopera and Inclusiv are teaming up to host a free, one-hour webinar. The webinar will share actions to take to help your credit union join the DEI movement, recognize how the pandemic has unveiled the need to reach out to underserved communities, and Coopera and Inclusiv will share the exciting joint DEI initiatives they’ve been working on.

This public webinar, Joining Forces for Inclusion, will be held August 26 at 12:00 p.m. (CST). Coopera CEO Víctor Miguel Corro will host the webinar with guests from Inclusiv, President/CEO Cathie Mahon and Senior Vice President of Membership and Network Engagement Pablo DeFilippi, CUDE.

Participants must register online by August 26, 2020.
