Coopera to Host Free Webinar for Credit Unions: Improving Financial Wellness by Bridging the Loan Gap

POSTED on May 4, 2020 IN Coopera

Webinar will provide credit unions with insights on why underserved members are drawn to predatory loans and ways to offer better alternatives

(Des Moines, Iowa – May 4, 2020) – Predatory loans are typically short-term, high-interest loans. They are misleading, unfair and have inflated charges and fees, leaving customers with damaged credit and unmanageable debt. Predatory lenders generally target minorities, financially uneducated individuals and those who are in need of immediate cash for unforeseen emergencies and do not qualify for conventional loans. Underserved and immigrant communities are prone to be drawn to predatory loans when unexpected expenses arise.

To enable credit unions to better serve their members, Coopera is teaming up with QCash Financial, a purpose driven FinTech firm that empowers financial institutions to improve financial wellness of the communities, to host a free, one-hour webinar. The webinar will cover why minority members are more likely to take out predatory loans and the importance of offering predatory loan alternatives such as small dollar loans.

This public webinar, Improving Financial Wellness by Bridging the Loan Gap, will be held May 13 at 11:00 a.m. (CST). Coopera CEO Víctor Miguel Corro will host the webinar with guest Ben Morales, CEO of QCash Financial.

Participants must register for this webinar online by May 12, 2020.
